Reaching out for support isn't always easy. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, navigating life changes, struggling with low mood, or facing conflict within your personal relationships, therapy can provide a safe place to better understand what you're experiencing and develop practical ways to move forward.
For more than 35 years, I have dedicated my career to helping children, adults, and families through difficult times. I began my career in Forensic Psychiatry before spending 33 years as a School Psychologist in Winnipeg, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Throughout my career, I have supported individuals and families facing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, developmental, and life challenges. In the latter part of my school psychology career, I worked with the Interdisciplinary Program for Students with Autism, helping families navigate services and advocate for their children. Since relocating to Vancouver, I have continued my passion for helping others by working in a counselling and therapeutic role.
My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and emotion-focused approaches, while recognizing that every person's experiences and goals are unique. Together, we will build on your existing strengths and coping skills, develop practical strategies, and create realistic, attainable goals that support meaningful change.
One of my highest priorities is creating a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable, safe, and understood. My hope is that you leave each session feeling more at peace, with greater confidence in your ability to manage life's daily challenges, anxiety, mood changes, and whatever difficulties you may be facing.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba, double majoring in Psychology and Sociology, followed by a Master's degree in Developmental Psychology and partial completion of my PhD before raising my family. I later completed all the requirements to become a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia. I am a former Psychological Associate with the Psychological Association of Manitoba (PAM) and I am a present member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my adult children, reading, travelling, walking, and cooking.
