Yasmin Abdoulraman, M.Sc.

I am currently a doctoral student at Adler University in the Clinical Psychology program. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Behaviour Analysis and a Master of Science in Applied Psychology from Trinity College Dublin. My Master's thesis focused on sex differences in social and cognitive functioning in individuals with a schizophrenia spectrum diagnosis.

As a practicum student, I provide both assessment and therapy. My approach to both is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the latest psychological research.

Regarding assessment, my main focuses include autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and psychoeducational assessments. I also occasionally provide mental health assessments. My approach balances a strengths-based perspective with thoughtful attention to my client's goals, areas of need, and opportunities for growth.

Regarding therapy, I have experience working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, races, genders, and sexual orientations. My therapeutic modality is highly integrative, meaning that I combine different modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), attachment theory, early childhood development, psychodynamics, and humanistic/experiential therapy. My practice is overall highly individualized and client-centred. I always strive to meet my clients where they are while remaining nonjudgemental and open-minded.

In my spare time, I enjoy going for city walks or hikes, reading up on anything psychology, and spending time with family and friends.
